About the position

The Director of Operations is a newly created role within a growing transportation company in Knoxville, TN. This position is responsible for leading the operations program, overseeing multiple locations, and assisting the General Manager in various operational and strategic initiatives. The role requires strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of the transportation industry.

Responsibilities

• Develop the operations program
• Lead sales, dispatch, fleet management, and quality/safety controls
• Create and implement marketing/sales plans
• Engage in business planning and budgeting with senior leaders
• Handle HR matters including recruiting, appointment, and training
• Supervise multiple locations

Requirements

• Experience leading operations, preferably within a transportation company
• Strong logistics and analytical skills
• Understanding of commercial transportation, DOT regulations, OTR logistics, scheduling, federal laws, billing, and maintenance
• Strong communication and presentation skills
