About the position

The Director of Operations at Valent Asset Management LLC will work closely with the CEO and CFO to oversee non-investment related activities, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations and compliance with industry regulations. This role is critical in managing operations within a commodities-focused hedge fund, requiring a deep understanding of the commodities markets and a strong focus on optimizing processes to support the firm's growth objectives.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and resolve any issues with electronic order placement systems (ex. Neovest)
• Establish new and manage existing give-up agreements with executing brokers
• Maintain existing and negotiate and establish new ISDA agreements with counterparties as needed
• Monitor and verify trade allocations between fund vehicles and managed accounts
• Assist in the management of the FCM and fund administrator relationships
• Maintain and review written operations procedures (internal controls, disaster recovery, etc)
• Assist with any regulatory reporting (NFA), inspections and requests in collaboration with the CCO and third-party compliance consultant
• Monitor and ensure operational compliance as specified by managed account clients and fund side letters
• Assist in the review of existing and establishment of new fund documentation and managed account IMAs
• Manage employee benefits program
• Oversee completion and delivery of recurring investor due diligence requests
• Monitor employee's compliance with Valent's Employee Handbook and Compliance Manual

Requirements

• 10 to 15 years of relevant operations experience, preferably at a commodities investment manager
• Experience with commodities derivatives (futures, forwards, options, OTC, swaps)
• Solid data analysis skills, particularly with regard to improving operational efficiency
• Ability to anticipate and quickly address any unexpected operational issues
• High integrity and a commitment to upholding Valent's code of conduct and a collaborative work environment
• Proficiency in Excel and Bloomberg
