About the position

The Director of Operations at Great American Transport is responsible for driving operational excellence and scaling the business. This role combines strong analytical expertise with leadership and team management skills to foster a high-performance culture in a fast-paced environment. The Director will ensure that operational initiatives align with company goals and drive continuous improvement across all functions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day warehouse operations for inbound produce, outbound fulfillment, order picking, driver, and customer service teams.
  • Develop and maintain SLAs & KPIs to drive consistent performance and meet delivery expectations.
  • Oversee operational data dashboards, interpreting key metrics to identify trends and operational inefficiencies.
  • Proactively identify and resolve operational issues to minimize disruption to workflows.
  • Drive the documentation, implementation, and iteration of processes to optimize efficiency.
  • Oversee the operations budget, ensuring cost control and resource optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Champion a culture of safety and operational excellence.
  • Manage a team of managers responsible for inbound and outbound operations.
  • Lead all aspects of people management, including hiring, onboarding, and organizational development.
  • Set clear performance expectations and mentor the management team.
  • Cultivate an environment of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement strategies for scaling operations.
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends and opportunities for growth.
  • Lead change management initiatives to improve operational processes.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to align operational goals with business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field.
  • 7+ years of operations management experience, with 2-3 years in eCommerce, grocery, or delivery environments.
  • 5+ years managing diverse teams with a focus on people management.
  • Strong focus on team development and fostering a collaborative mindset.
  • Proven ability to lead in fast-paced, startup environments.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify inefficiencies and drive decisions.
  • Proven track record of ensuring a positive customer experience.
  • Extensive experience with delivery software and warehouse management systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
