About the position

The Director of Operations at the Creative Arts Academy is responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of the summer camp, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for campers and staff. This role involves managing logistics, vendor relations, transportation services, and compliance with safety protocols, while also serving as a positive role model and advocate for the arts within a diverse community.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate and demonstrate respect for ritual moments in conjunction with URJ practices.
  • Incorporate core values and summer theme in meaningful ways.
  • Support campers in their skills training and artistic growth.
  • Research and secure best pricing for summer vendors.
  • Coordinate arrival and departure times for staff, campers, and faculty.
  • Oversee opening and closing day procedures including staffing for airport and train pick-ups.
  • Track late arrivals and missing luggage.
  • Coordinate off-site medical visits with the Health and Wellness Director.
  • Assist in the hiring process for the Operations Team.
  • Oversee form compliance for campers, staff, and faculty.
  • Coordinate storage unit loadout and load-in at Westtown.
  • Establish office protocols for handling communications and requests.
  • Track purchasing for program supplies across camp programming.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact on-site with Westtown Liaison(s).
  • Maintain compliance with all safety and security protocols.
  • Attend daily Leadership Team meetings and contribute to camp activities.

Requirements

  • Calm under pressure with excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with various stakeholders.
  • Comfort with Office Suite and ability to learn new technology.
  • Excellent driving record.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and teamwork skills.
  • Respect and love for The Arts and a diverse community.
  • Must be 21 years of age by June 1, 2025.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in summer camp operations or management.
  • Background in arts education or programming.
  • Familiarity with URJ practices and Jewish community values.
