About the position

The Director of Operations (DO) at Family Promise of Lawrence (FPL) is responsible for providing comprehensive organizational guidance across the FPL network, which includes staff, volunteers, donors, programs, and facilities. The DO will facilitate cross-functional goals, operational supervision, and foster a culture of continuous improvement while ensuring adherence to policies and enhancing operational procedures. This role is pivotal in empowering families in housing crises and achieving stabilization through community connections.

Responsibilities

  • Provide cross-functional oversight, management, supervision, and administration.
  • Facilitate communication bridging between functions and manage volunteer events.
  • Develop key partnerships with local agencies and government committees.
  • Administer client and volunteer events, including Life Skills classes and Winter Wishes.
  • Oversee the management of family shelter, including volunteer engagement and building maintenance.
  • Ensure input from FPL families on program changes through surveys and feedback.
  • Guide daily operations across all staff teams to maintain focus on the FPL mission.
  • Build and manage cross-functional communication at all operational levels.
  • Supervise Operations staff and facilitate the hiring and onboarding of new staff and volunteers.
  • Administer the operation of FPL owned/managed buildings, including maintenance and staffing.
  • Oversee the FPL program database and ensure data quality and accuracy.
  • Develop dashboards and reports for program effectiveness and donor communications.
  • Research and write grants for program funding.
  • Prepare and track the FPL annual budget and monthly expenses.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree (graduate preferred) from an accredited school.
  • Supervisory experience with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
  • Highly organized with exceptional management and time management skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Experience in collaboration and coordination of case management services.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed, person-centered approaches.
  • Experience in program, policy, and procedure development.
  • Confidence in data analysis and reporting for service improvements.
  • Experience managing organizational expenses and financial budgets.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle detailed information accurately.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in grant research and writing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer skills.
