About the position

The Director of Operations at St. Paul's United Methodist Church is responsible for overseeing the church's business and financial affairs in collaboration with the Lead Pastor. This role includes direct management of the Ministry Support team and oversight of various services such as financial management, human resources, facilities maintenance, and member services. The Director will ensure effective communication and collaboration among staff and church members while promoting sound fiscal policies and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Work in collaboration with the Lead Pastor to support church goals and directions.
  • Create and maintain positive communication with church staff, committee chairpersons, and congregation.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to ensure efficient Ministry Support functions.
  • Guide and support the Church Treasurer in financial and accounting tasks.
  • Support the Hospitality Coordinator in hospitality and record-keeping responsibilities.
  • Oversee the Building Maintenance Contractor and Custodial Contractor to ensure facility upkeep.
  • Maximize the use of ACS/Realm software systems.
  • Encourage standardization of practices among staff members.
  • Manage Human Resource activities in conjunction with the Lead Pastor and Staff-Parish Relations Committee.
  • Support pastoral staff and ministry teams as assigned by the Lead Pastor.
  • Coordinate interaction with external auditors and maintain internal financial checks.
  • Lead vendor and contractor interactions.
  • Promote cost-effective use of resources and facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field.
  • 5-8 years of business and human resource experience.
  • Managerial experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to a dynamic support environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, especially Word and Excel.
  • Ability to learn ACS/Realm software systems.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Leadership skills in personnel training and development.
