About the position

The Director of Operations - Oregon is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Oregon facility at Gold Star Foods, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in all processes. This role involves managing labor scheduling, budget attainment, and strategic planning while fostering a positive work environment and promoting employee development.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Oregon facility to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure supervisory personnel effectively schedule labor to support purchasing and sales departments.
  • Oversee facility profit and loss statements and budget goals attainment.
  • Establish metrics and standards for evaluating company efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Forecast and prepare the operating budget using historical data and industry benchmarks.
  • Identify strategic needs and execute implementation plans.
  • Control operating expenses and investigate discrepancies to achieve the operating budget.
  • Improve customer service and satisfaction through policy changes.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and orderly work environment for all employees.
  • Develop and administer safety incentive programs to motivate employees.
  • Control workers compensation costs through proactive case management and training.
  • Supervise management direct reports and promote employee training and development.
  • Chair discussions to educate employees and promote open communication.
  • Involve employees in change processes to improve morale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration preferred.
  • At least 5 years of related management experience.
  • Thorough understanding of business and finance practices.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of DOT, State, and Federal transportation regulations.

  • Experience with transportation routing and vehicle tracking programs.
