About the position

The Director of Operations is responsible for leading and managing the business and financial affairs of the church in coordination with the Lead Pastor. This role includes direct management of the Ministry Support team and oversight of various services such as financial management, human resources, facilities maintenance, and member services. The Director will ensure effective communication and collaboration among staff and committees, while promoting sound fiscal policies and efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Work in collaboration with the Lead Pastor to support church goals and directions.
  • Create and maintain positive communication with church staff, committee chairpersons, and congregation.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to ensure efficient Ministry Support functions.
  • Guide the Church Treasurer in financial and accounting tasks, promoting sound fiscal policy.
  • Support the Hospitality Coordinator in hospitality and record-keeping responsibilities.
  • Oversee the Building Maintenance Contractor and Custodial Contractor to ensure facility upkeep.
  • Maximize the use of ACS/Realm software systems.
  • Encourage standardization of practices among staff members.
  • Manage Human Resource activities, including maintaining personnel files and employee relations.
  • Support staff performance review policies and conduct performance reviews.
  • Assist pastoral staff and ministry teams in policy establishment and adherence.
  • Coordinate with external auditors to maintain financial checks and balances.
  • Lead interactions with outside vendors and contractors.
  • Promote cost-effective use of resources and facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field.
  • 5-8 years of business and human resource experience.
  • Managerial experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to a dynamic support environment.
  • Ability to improve team and organization synergies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (especially Word and Excel).
  • Competence in problem-solving skills.
  • Leadership skills in personnel training and development.
