About the position

Taco Azul is seeking a Director of Operations who will play a pivotal role in ensuring the restaurant operates smoothly and efficiently while upholding the company's core values. The Director of Operations will be responsible for building, refining, and executing systems and processes that guarantee the delivery of delicious food and drinks, alongside excellent guest service. This role is essential in maintaining consistency in execution, regardless of the conditions, and ensuring that every guest has a smileable experience. The Director will work closely with the leadership team to implement and train staff on these systems, focusing on continuous improvement and operational excellence. The Director of Operations will lead various systems including Point of Sale, Scheduling, Payroll, Training, HR Platforms, Health & Safety, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Front of House (FOH) operations. They will also be responsible for key business metrics such as Labor Cost Optimization, Guest Satisfaction Scores, Average Wait Times, and Average Check Size. This role requires a full commitment to Taco Azul's vision and values, with an upfront investment of time and resources necessary for long-term success. The Director will be the first and last point of quality assurance in all team and guest interactions, ensuring that the restaurant runs smoothly on a daily basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong ownership mentality, extensive experience in restaurant management, and a passion for Mexican food and culture. They will work closely with the leadership team, particularly Dan, to align on the restaurant's vision and goals, and will have the opportunity to hire and train a lean team to execute this vision. This is not a remote position, and the Director will be expected to be actively involved in the day-to-day operations of Taco Azul, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build, refine, and execute systems and processes for food and drink service.
  • Ensure consistency in execution regardless of conditions.
  • Lead systems including Point of Sale, Scheduling, Payroll, Training, and HR Platforms.
  • Oversee Health & Safety and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for FOH operations.
  • Manage business metrics such as Labor Cost Optimization and Guest Satisfaction Scores.
  • Commit to the vision and values of Taco Azul and invest time and resources for long-term success.
  • Run the restaurant on a daily basis and ensure quality assurance in team and guest interactions.
  • Hire and train a lean team to support operational goals.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of restaurant management experience
  • Expertise in using Toast POS
  • Expertise in using Resy
  • Extensive experience in hiring and training
  • Ownership mentality
  • Growth experience
  • Legally able to work in the US
  • Ability to work on feet for 8+ hours per day
