About the position

At Bon Appetit Management Company, we are passionate about food and dedicated to providing outstanding service. As the Director of Operations, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our accounts in line with the approved budget while ensuring that client expectations are met. This position requires you to foster excellent relationships with employees, guests, and clients, as well as collaborate effectively with other departments within the operation. You will be responsible for promoting the professional growth and development of your team, championing strong interdepartmental relations, and integrating the dining service department with the overall facility plan of operations. In this role, you will participate in employee meetings, conduct reviews, and oversee training programs. You will manage operations in compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Maintaining food costs while ensuring quality standards is essential, as is establishing and maintaining good rapport with staff, clients, guests, and other departments. You will need to demonstrate financial competence across all areas, including financial reporting, sales reports, P&L reports, and adherence to annual budgets and cash handling procedures. Your responsibilities will also include analyzing and building trends for financial data, managing purchasing and inventory controls, and planning menus in consultation with chefs. Knowledge of HACCP controls and proper food storage and usage is critical. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in upscale food service, personnel management, and a consistent track record of achieving company goals while adhering to policies and procedures. Excellent leadership, organizational skills, and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in employee meetings, reviews and training programs
  • Manages in compliance with Company established policies and procedures
  • Manages in compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations
  • Maintains food cost while ensuring quality standards
  • Establishes and maintains good rapport with staff, client and guest and other departments
  • Financial competence for all areas including financial reporting with sales reports P&L reports, writing and adhering to annual budgets and cash handling
  • Analyzes and builds trends for financial data
  • Manages purchasing and inventory controls
  • Plans menus in consultation with chefs
  • Is knowledgeable on HACCP controls along with proper storage and use of food

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred, or equivalent professional experience
  • Eight to ten years upscale food service experience, including demonstrated ability at the management level
  • Experience in personnel management including hiring, supervision, evaluation and succession planning
  • Consistent track record to achieve company goals in compliance with company/client policies and procedures
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills, and must possess attention to detail
  • Supervisory, scheduling, training and mentoring skills
  • Effective problem solving and conflict management skills
  • Ability to multi-task as well as stay on task and concentrate with constant interruptions
  • Experience in food purchasing, food costs and inventory control
  • Ability to build budgets, flash reports, financial targets and forecasts
  • Knowledge of cash handling procedures and reconciliation of multiple cash banks and reports
  • Must be knowledgeable on HACCP controls along with proper storage and use of food
  • Supervise compliance with health and fire regulations regarding food preparation and serving
  • Outstanding business etiquette and client relations
  • Manages time effectively and prioritizes tasks to meet deadlines
  • Strong catering experience required
  • Conformity to the highest standards of personal integrity and ethical behavior
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • ServSafe or Department of Health certification a plus
