About the position

The Chief Operations Officer (COO) at California Probate and Trust, PC is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing and implementing the firm's operations, excluding the practice of law. This position focuses on strategic planning, operational management, financial oversight, and driving growth while enhancing the client experience. The COO will work closely with the owner and staff to shape the future of the firm, requiring a hands-on approach to build and manage a team effectively.

Responsibilities

• Expand the firm's reach and profitability by improving marketing, sales, systems, growing revenue and profit, and maximizing efficiency.
• Build and manage an aggressive money-driven team.
• Develop workflows, refine processes, and ensure operational excellence to meet client needs and exceed expectations.
• Manage budgets, cash flow, and financial reporting, using KPIs and metrics to drive decisions.
• Evaluate vendor relationships and optimize the ROI of the marketing budget.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a CEO or COO in a service-based company with a successful exit.
• Experience leading teams of 20+ people and managing budgets exceeding $10M.
• Strong skills in designing systems and processes that drive efficiency and ensure high-quality service.
• Ability to read financial statements and implement budgets while monitoring progress.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience building a service-based company from small to over $20M.
• Tech-savvy with proficiency in MS Excel, including writing formulas and pivot tables.
• Willingness to learn quickly about the area of practice and implement new technologies.
