About the position

Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Human Resources professional to join our senior leadership team as the Director of People Experience. This full-time position is based in Bremerton, WA, and offers a competitive salary range of $97,136.00 to $123,843.20 per year. The Director of People Experience will lead the People Experience (PE) team, overseeing essential functions such as compensation, benefits, employee relations, performance management, and compliance operations. This role is pivotal in shaping and maintaining a positive, inclusive, and equitable culture throughout the agency while ensuring adherence to all ethical and legal standards. In this role, you will be responsible for promoting and supporting KMHS's Mission, Vision, Core Values, and Code of Conduct policies across the organization. You will actively contribute to implementing KMHS's Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility strategies, ensuring that our workplace culture thrives. Your leadership will guide the administration of People Experience operations, including managing employee relations and guiding complex matters to attract and retain top talent. The Director will analyze compensation trends and benefits offerings to ensure KMHS remains competitive in attracting talent. You will align performance evaluation systems with clinical and operational goals and facilitate staff development programs. Additionally, you will lead the development and implementation of key policies, processes, and training to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of employment laws and best practices to enhance KMHS's human resources strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and support KMHS's Mission, Vision, Core Values, and Code of Conduct policies across the organization.
  • Demonstrate personal and professional ethics, ensuring the People Experience team aligns with these values.
  • Contribute to implementing KMHS's Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility strategies.
  • Oversee the administration of People Experience operations including compensation, benefits, employee relations, and professional development.
  • Collaborate with the CFO/CAO to implement strategic staffing plans aligned with the agency's budget and priorities.
  • Manage employee relations and guide on complex matters to attract and retain top talent.
  • Analyze compensation trends and benefits offerings to ensure KMHS remains competitive in attracting talent.
  • Align performance evaluation systems with clinical and operational goals and facilitate staff development programs.
  • Provide ongoing support for People Experience staff's professional development.
  • Lead the development and implementation of key policies, processes, and training to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience managing complex systems and/or teams in large organizations.
  • Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Experience generating professional documents and reports.
  • Ability to work with confidential information.
  • Experience promoting an equitable and inclusive work environment.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse population.
  • Proven ability to lead projects from start to finish with a high degree of personal accountability.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in healthcare or a clinical setting.
  • Experience with diversity initiatives within an organization.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
  • Seven to ten years of progressive leadership experience.
