About the position

The Director of Pharmacy at St. Thomas Health Center is a key member of the management team responsible for overseeing the pharmacy service line across three locations in New Orleans, LA. This role involves managing daily operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and driving clinical and financial performance while maintaining high patient satisfaction. The Director will collaborate with senior leadership to develop strategic goals and objectives for the pharmacy services, ensuring they align with the overall mission of the Health Center.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage day-to-day pharmacy operations across three locations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive revenue growth and optimize operational processes.
  • Oversee and monitor PBM and third-party agreements for adherence.
  • Supervise and coach pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to maintain competent staff.
  • Manage pharmacy staffing including recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with pharmacy licensing and regulations.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment focused on team development.
  • Oversee purchasing of outpatient pharmacy inventories to control costs.
  • Manage the health center's 340B program and ensure compliance.
  • Develop policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and present pharmacy performance reports to executive leadership.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on budget plans and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Monitor key pharmacy metrics to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of retail/outpatient pharmacy experience as a supervisor or manager.
  • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration or Business Management with a healthcare focus is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with Health Center staff.
  • Experience with Medicaid populations and Federally Qualified Health Centers is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in multi-disciplinary team environments.
  • Clinical, business, and analytical skills are essential.
  • Direct experience with Medicaid and Medicare programs, PBM, and third-party insurance groups is required.
  • Knowledge of 340B programs and oversight is necessary.
  • Familiarity with regulatory bodies such as the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy and DEA is required.
  • Strong computer proficiency with Microsoft Office tools is necessary.
  • Bilingual skills are preferred.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to change are desirable.
