About the position

The Director of Planning and Purchasing at ZLINE is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the purchasing and supply chain operations to enhance inventory performance. This position involves optimizing procurement processes, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring efficient supply of goods across the organization. The director will lead initiatives to improve inventory accuracy and turnover while collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, fostering open communication and collaboration.
  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Lead the implementation of inventory and demand planning software 'Netstock'.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at refining purchasing and inventory processes and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to bolster inventory accuracy, turnover, and availability within the Supply Chain.
  • Engage in daily management tasks, including overseeing reporting and presenting performance metrics to the business leadership team.
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate stockouts and other inventory-related challenges.
  • Analyze and report on purchasing and inventory metrics to track performance, identify areas for improvement, and present insights to senior management.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers to establish favorable terms and conditions while mitigating risks.
  • Implement and maintain procurement policies and procedures that adhere to best practices and compliance standards.
  • Oversee the supplier evaluation process, including performance reviews and vendor audits.
  • Work with all entities in the Supply Chain to set inventory performance based on corporate inventory and warehouse requirements.
  • Track shipments and coordinate deliveries across each of our warehouses.
  • Work with all parties to minimize excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Identify, create, and implement SOPs, as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven track record in purchasing and inventory management, with 5 years of experience in progressively responsible roles.
  • Proficiency in purchasing and inventory management software and systems (NetSuite ERP and/or NetStock demand planning) is strongly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement strategies, vendor management, and contract negotiation.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data to drive informed decisions.
  • Ability to present metric-driven analysis solutions to the executive leadership team.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office, primarily Excel.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities to effectively interact with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the capability to guide teams to success.
  • Exceptional problem-solving acumen, coupled with a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
  • Self-motivated individual able to multitask effectively and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional certifications in purchasing (e.g., CSCP, CPSM) are a plus.
