About the position

The Plant Director oversees all daily operations of the dairy manufacturing plant, ensuring compliance with safety, food quality, and operational procedures. This role is pivotal in reinforcing safety as a core value and managing the plant's performance against key performance indicators (KPIs). The director is responsible for leading a multi-site operation, coaching staff, and implementing strategies to enhance productivity and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership, direction, and coordination for plant operations, including multi-site management.
  • Ensure compliance with plant and corporate procedures, as well as customer and regulatory regulations.
  • Coach and develop plant staff to ensure effective leadership and collaboration in achieving KPIs focused on safety, quality, customer service, and productivity.
  • Assume personal responsibility for a safe and healthy workplace for all employees.
  • Adhere to safe work practices and all safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain quality work practices, follow GMPs, and ensure product quality is upheld.
  • Responsible for food safety and quality of products, identifying and addressing conditions that may adversely affect them.
  • Plan and supervise the design and progress of capital projects.
  • Develop and implement financial and non-financial objectives, including the annual budget.
  • Identify and implement strategies to improve performance and exceed plant KPIs.
  • Monitor and set standards for operations, helping to identify and correct bottlenecks.
  • Increase production asset capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of related experience or training in a Plant or Operations Management role.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in Food Science, Engineering, or Management.
  • 3+ years of experience in aseptic processing is highly preferred.
  • Dairy or beverage manufacturing experience is highly preferred.
  • Tetra Pak machinery experience is highly preferred.
  • Prior multi-site oversight experience.
  • Plant start-up or acquisition experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management with a track record of achieving results against KPIs.
  • Excellent problem-solving and reasoning skills.
  • Ability to analyze downtime and financial variance trends to identify actions for performance delivery.
  • Working knowledge of budgets, forecasting, and metrics.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including coaching, team building, and training skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information to all levels of the company.
  • Excellent time management and strong attention to detail, verbal and written communication skills, listening, decision-making, and organization skills required.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in aseptic filling or dairy manufacturing for 5 years (Preferred).
  • Experience with Tetra Pak Machinery for 3 years (Preferred).
