About the position

The Director of Processing at Taylor Shellfish Company is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all operations within the processing facilities. This role involves working closely with company directors and executive management to achieve production and sales goals while ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The director will manage personnel, budgets, inventory, and quality assurance, and will be based at the company's headquarters in Shelton, WA.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary contact for regulatory agencies such as NOAA, ISSC, Dept. of Ag, FDA, and WA DoH.
• Maintain awareness of current regulations specific to seafood processing.
• Seek and propose new policies to improve quality, safety, and productivity in the shellfish processing industry.
• Oversee the processing management team to ensure they meet company goals.
• Address significant personnel issues in collaboration with HR as needed.
• Create and monitor budgets for both long-term and short-term financial costs.
• Work directly with farms and sales to ensure product movement through production meets sales goals.
• Promote and direct the Quality Assurance department to enhance product quality and safety.
• Represent Taylor Shellfish and the processing division at various meetings and events.

Requirements

• College Degree preferred.
• 5+ years of food processing experience required.
• Team and individual leadership skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a diverse crew of employees.
• Ability to develop and maintain a budget for a profitable operation.
• Well organized, detail-oriented, and strong planning skills.
• Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
• Ability to work independently with little direction.
• Strong decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong technology understanding with the ability to learn and work with mobile and computer technologies.
