About the position

The Director of Product Development will oversee the development, scale-up, and manufacturing of color and skincare cosmetic products. This role is crucial for ensuring adherence to processes, timelines, and quality standards while leading a team of chemists. The director will be responsible for creating new formulas, interfacing with suppliers, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The position requires a strong focus on detail, data-driven decision-making, and effective communication across departments.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the development and scale-up of color and skincare cosmetic products.
• Ensure adherence to processes and timelines, raising flags when necessary.
• Collect project status updates and provide direction to the team.
• Create formulas for new and existing business opportunities.
• Manage both powder and liquid color cosmetics as well as skincare formulations.
• Interface with partner suppliers to communicate needs and acquire innovative materials.
• Write and enter formulas into the R&D formula system and create clear, replicable processes.
• Test finished products in the lab using applicable test instrumentation.
• Guide and lead a large team of chemists, providing technical support and guidance.
• Meet with new vendors to source raw materials and gain knowledge in industry research.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in food technology, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years' experience in the color cosmetics industry, including product development and research.
• 8+ years of leadership experience with people management skills.
