About the position

The Director of Product Management for Developer Experience and Platform at The Trade Desk is responsible for leading a team focused on enhancing developer productivity through effective tools and processes. This role involves collaborating closely with engineering teams to identify opportunities for improvement in the software development lifecycle, ensuring that the product teams deliver high-quality features efficiently. The position requires a seasoned technical product leader who can manage complex projects, drive execution against strategic roadmaps, and foster a culture of growth and empowerment within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Developer Experience & Productivity PM team.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across product and engineering teams to understand requirements and technical governance standards.
  • Refine Developer Productivity strategy and roadmap based on stakeholder needs and industry trends.
  • Ensure the PM team is set up for successful execution against the roadmap.
  • Own execution of complex, long-term projects with unknown requirements.
  • Define and lead execution for deliverables impacting operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with area leaders and stakeholders to anticipate needs and resolve high-priority issues.
  • Build processes for assessing employee morale and leverage insights for improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze hiring effectiveness and execute a hiring strategy for the area.
  • Identify, motivate, coach, and develop team leaders and managers.
  • Develop processes to analyze team performance metrics and guide improvements.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience as a Technical or Platform Product Manager in a technology-heavy role.
  • Proven track record of partnering with engineering teams to solve complex technical problems.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical discussions and driving consensus.
  • Durability and grit in problem-solving and project execution.
  • Deep understanding of modern infrastructure environments, both on-prem and in cloud.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with A/B testing and experimentation strategies.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
