About the position

The Director of Product Management for Service is a pivotal role responsible for shaping and executing the short and long-term product strategies for service-related products. This position requires a strategic mindset to provide insights and feedback that will inform the development of comprehensive strategic plans aimed at product growth. The incumbent will collaborate with various internal resources to guide and execute the growth of service and related products, ensuring alignment with marketing, financial, and corporate growth objectives. In this role, the Director will be tasked with identifying and evaluating all service product categories over the past five years, defining product requirements based on customer and market insights, and conducting ongoing reviews of pricing structures to ensure their accuracy and appropriateness. The position also involves evaluating competitive service positions in the marketplace and related products, which is crucial for maintaining a competitive edge. The Director will lead service product initiatives, focusing on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to service growth. This includes developing segments of service-related products for labor, parts, and connected services, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver the planned roadmap on time. The role requires providing immediate resolutions to escalated customer challenges and critical risks throughout the product development process, as well as analyzing sales representative performance to develop strategies for incentives related to service growth and efficiency. Additionally, the Director will conduct market research to track trends within product lines and collaborate with various functional areas to develop product definitions that respond to customer needs and market opportunities. Recommendations for product revisions, expansions, or eliminations will be made to the Product Management Leader to drive overall product category strategy. The role also involves supporting the marketing team in generating the annual marketing plan, providing content for sales literature, and delivering product training.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate all related service product categories over the past 5 years.
  • Define product requirements incorporating customer and market insights from sales, service, and marketing.
  • Conduct ongoing reviews of pricing structure to ensure its accuracy and appropriateness for assigned product categories.
  • Evaluate competitive Service positions in the marketplace and related products.
  • Develop segments of service-related products for labor, parts, and connected services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver the planned roadmap on time.
  • Provide immediate resolution to escalated customer challenges and critical risks across the product development process.
  • Analyze sales representative performance and help develop strategies for incentives related to service growth and efficiency.
  • Conduct market research and track market trends within product lines/categories.
  • Collaborate with functional areas to develop and provide product definitions responsive to customer needs and market opportunities.
  • Determine the need for product revisions, expansion, and/or elimination and make recommendations to the Product Management Leader.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver continuous improvement projects.
  • Identify gaps that exist within the product lines/categories vs competition.
  • Support marketing team to generate the annual marketing plan including product value proposition and positioning.
  • Provide content for sales literature, sales tools, promotions, ads, and other marketing materials.
  • Collaborate with marketing team to deliver product training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or similar required.
  • 3+ years related experience and/or training in new product, program or project management.
  • MBA preferred.
  • Ability to work and communicate with colleagues across operating companies and supporting functions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Must be able to plan, organize and prioritize work.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines.
