Full-time - Director

About the position

The Director of Program/Project Management is responsible for planning and directing the work of a unit that manages various software development and IT systems projects. This role involves overseeing project parameters, budgeting resources, and ensuring compliance with project management methodologies. The director will also manage a team of managers and staff, report on project progress, and represent the unit in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Confer with management to determine project scope and priority.
  • Assign staff to projects based on skill sets and project demands.
  • Establish and train staff in formal project management methodology.
  • Manage larger or complex development projects and report on progress.
  • Report to senior management on unit production and activities.
  • Represent the unit as an expert to cross-functional teams.
  • Plan and manage the performance of subordinate managers and staff.
  • Manage the unit's budget and approve expenditures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required.
  • 8+ years of related experience required.
  • At least 4 years of managerial experience as a manager of managers.
  • Experience in Financial Services preferred, or related fields like Retail or Telecommunications.
  • Experience in a Sr. Level Director/Vice President role or similar positions.
  • Expertise in PMO functions related to Information Management or Data Governance.
  • Strong leadership skills to manage large change efforts.
  • Strong communication skills to articulate key messages clearly.
  • Ability to think strategically and execute plans effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a matrix management environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Business Administration or Information Management preferred.
