About the position

The Director of Program Quality Improvement is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of a regional system of program quality supports for early education and care in Massachusetts. This role involves managing a team of program quality specialists, ensuring effective communication across various programs, and promoting high-quality standards in early education. The position emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to equity and diversity within the workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Overall management of the Program Quality Unit and the development and implementation of a regional system of program quality supports in Massachusetts.
  • Supervision of staff and setting direction for the ongoing development and implementation of the quality support system.
  • Monitoring and measuring progress of quality improvement initiatives.
  • Providing direction and oversight of supports offered to early education and out of school time programs.
  • Managing the process for the ongoing development of the MA quality system based on research findings and public feedback.
  • Providing technical assistance and training to EEC licensed programs.
  • Engaging with EEC leadership and collaborating with partnering agencies to integrate the quality system in Massachusetts.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years of professional, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in relevant fields.
  • At least one (1) year in a project management, supervisory, or managerial capacity.
  • Experience in early education and care services, particularly for children aged 0-5 years.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to present facts and recommendations effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience providing coaching, training, and technical assistance support to program leaders.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development and agencies involved in early care and education.
  • Ability to interpret statistical data and draw sound conclusions.
  • Extensive skills using Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
