About the position

The Director of Project Delivery at KFI Engineers is responsible for overseeing company-wide operations to support growth plans and ensure project management excellence. This role involves collaboration with senior leadership to manage resources, implement standards, and drive efficiency in project delivery. The Director will also mentor project managers and facilitate training, while maintaining a focus on profitability and quality expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the President, VPs, CFO, and other Directors to manage company operations in support of growth plans.
  • Advise on resource planning based on annual budget and backlog goals.
  • Forecast annual talent hiring needs in partnership with senior team and HR.
  • Drive consistency in Project Manager focus areas, processes, systems, and tools.
  • Create and implement common design, software, and project management standards.
  • Facilitate staff sharing and right-sizing activities to meet billable rate goals.
  • Work with Operations Directors and Department Leaders to improve profitability, efficiency, and backlog metrics.
  • Evaluate and streamline the contractual approval process for efficiencies.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to the Chair of the Project Management Operational Excellence Committee.
  • Evaluate current Project Management support structure and necessary resources for development and coaching.
  • Oversee development and maintenance of project management aspects of the firm's ERP software system.
  • Lead annual Project Manager training and development efforts.
  • Prepare for and attend management and board meetings.
  • Formulate, implement, and update corporate policies with senior leadership team.
  • Evaluate monthly financial performance reports to improve profitability.
  • Review, analyze, and recommend improvements to business procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years experience managing projects in the design and construction industry.
  • Experience drafting or reviewing contracts in a construction setting.
  • Design and project management experience across various markets.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction and establishing rapport.
  • Strong influencing skills and self-confidence.
  • Ability to collaborate and assimilate a range of ideas into recommendations.
  • Self-directed with a focus on consultation and collaboration for superior outcomes.
  • Skill in tactical analyses, presentations, and managerial communications.
  • Effective meeting management and strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, Word and Excel (intermediate level).
  • Experience with Deltek, Vantagepoint/Vision, or other ERP project management applications.
  • Ability to deliver constructive feedback that motivates individuals.
  • Ability to develop procedures and standards.
  • Willingness to travel to other KFI office locations regularly.
