About the position

The Director of Project Controls is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing project control functions globally within the organization. This position focuses on developing tools and managing resources to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with the company's strategic objectives. The role also involves establishing standards for project execution and requires extensive experience in project management, cost control, scheduling, and risk management, along with strong leadership and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Establishing Global Standards for project controls on capital projects across the network.
  • Developing and maintaining comprehensive project schedules that outline key milestones, deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Coordinating with project managers and stakeholders to ensure schedules are realistic and achievable.
  • Monitoring progress against the schedule, identifying potential delays, and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Establishing and managing project budgets, ensuring all expenditures are within approved limits.
  • Tracking project costs and financial performance, providing regular reports to senior management.
  • Identifying cost-saving opportunities and implementing measures to optimize project financial performance.
  • Identifying potential project risks and developing mitigation strategies to minimize their impact.
  • Conducting regular risk assessments and updating risk management plans accordingly.
  • Implementing and maintaining quality control processes to ensure project deliverables meet required standards.
  • Conducting regular quality audits and inspections to identify and address any issues.
  • Providing regular status updates to senior management and stakeholders on project progress, risks, and financial performance.
  • Preparing detailed project reports, including variance analysis, cost performance, and schedule adherence.
  • Facilitating effective communication between project teams, ensuring all stakeholders are informed and aligned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • 8-10 years of experience in project controls, project management, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project).
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large, complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or CCP (Certified Cost Professional) are highly desirable.
