About the position

The Director of Project Management Office (PMO) at Everence is responsible for establishing and leading the PMO to deliver high-quality project management services across the organization. This role involves developing and implementing PMO processes, policies, and best practices, as well as managing the project portfolio to achieve strategic and business objectives. The director will oversee project management staff and collaborate with department leaders to define and prioritize projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enforce PMO governance standards, policies, procedures, and dashboards.
  • Create, maintain, and enforce a project management framework, templates, and methodologies to ensure consistency and quality in project delivery.
  • Monitor portfolio of projects to ensure compliance with project methodologies and standards, schedules, budgets, and quality expectations.
  • Oversee project managers and business analysts to ensure coordinated work and timely project delivery.
  • Coach project managers and business analysts, sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Manage the prioritization, selection, and approval process for new projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Facilitate regular status meetings and presentations to senior leadership, reporting on project portfolio performance.
  • Collaborate with teams outside of IT to prioritize and coordinate work.
  • Develop and manage the PMO budget.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and project management excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field.
  • Master's degree or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of eight years of project management experience.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent desirable.
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools, including Smartsheet and Jira.
  • High-level analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience monitoring and evaluating projects and project portfolios.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks/assignments concurrently.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to see the big picture and align projects with organizational goals.
