About the position

The Director of Project Management for Rack and Cooling Solutions is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing product design, redesign, and test development projects that support customer cooling programs within the data center ecosystem. This position requires effective communication and coordination with both internal and external customers regarding new and existing projects. Additionally, the Director will play a crucial role in supporting bid and proposal activities, ensuring that all project management processes are instituted and maintained appropriately to meet customer needs. The primary responsibilities include ensuring timely product development and qualifications while maintaining compliance with industry standards. The Director will work closely with sales teams to manage project projections and anticipated needs, ensuring tight planning and collaboration with design execution teams, sales, and manufacturing operations. This role also involves forecasting resource needs, engaging with technology partners, participating in contract negotiations, and creating Statements of Work. The Director will facilitate the design delivery process, manage the quality of all deliverables, and oversee the transfer of designs to manufacturing operations, ensuring a smooth ramp to mature production. In addition to project management, the Director will be responsible for scope and change management, managing project financials and profitability, and driving customer satisfaction. Training new staff and ensuring they are equipped to succeed in their roles is also a key responsibility. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in managing the product realization process for cooling solutions, particularly for hyper-scale customers, and must be adept in project planning, requirements management, risk management, documentation, design processes, test processes, and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Institute and maintain appropriate project management processes with customers
  • Ensure product development and qualifications are achieved timely with compliance
  • Work with sales to manage projections and anticipated projects
  • Maintain tight planning and collaboration with the design execution team, sales, and manufacturing operations
  • Forecast anticipated resource needs
  • Work with Sanmina's technology partners
  • Participate in contract authoring and negotiations

Requirements

  • 8+ years experience in managing complex projects and teams of project managers
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field
  • Deep knowledge of project management tools and procedures
  • Solid leadership and management skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Experience with managing manpower planning, project reviews, scheduling, and budget control
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • U.S. citizenship is required
