About the position

OHO Interactive is a digital marketing agency that specializes in user research, website design, web development, content strategy, and digital marketing. The company serves clients across various industries, including higher education, healthcare, and arts & non-profits. The position of Director of Project Management for the Web Solutions business line is a leadership role that involves managing a high-performing project management team. The primary focus is on delivering web solutions efficiently and consistently while driving continuous improvement in project management processes to minimize risks and ensure project success. In this role, you will be responsible for fostering a project management culture that drives the successful delivery of large web projects. You will implement improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing project efficiency and minimizing schedule risks, which will contribute to strong financial performance for the Web Solutions project portfolio. Your performance will be measured based on the accuracy of project plans, reliable monthly revenue forecasting, achieving portfolio profitability targets, team health and employee engagement, client satisfaction, and project manager utilization targets. The outcomes expected from this role include establishing defined career paths for project managers, ensuring they understand financial metrics and their business impact, proactively monitoring project profitability, maintaining schedule stability, documenting scheduling best practices, and optimizing the project management process for efficiency and quality. You will also be responsible for ensuring that project managers are consistently following defined procedures and that projects are thoughtfully assigned to meet utilization targets while preventing unsustainable workloads.

Responsibilities

  • Set direction that inspires, motivates, and enables project managers to contribute to OHO's success.
  • Manage the project management team, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
  • Lead annual performance and compensation reviews for the project management team.
  • Oversee hiring and onboarding processes for new project management team members.
  • Elevate issues to leadership as necessary and cascade messages to project managers.
  • Define annual goals for the discipline in collaboration with the project management team.
  • Support project managers to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and within scope.
  • Support project managers in proactively establishing risk mitigation plans.
  • Maintain consistency and high quality in project management processes and deliverables.
  • Lead weekly department meetings to ensure alignment and address any challenges.
  • Lead project retrospectives to capture lessons learned and continuously improve processes.
  • Maintain project management documentation and ensure adherence to defined best practices.
  • Collaborate with PMs to ensure project plans are efficient, accurate, within scope, and based on team estimates.
  • Approve consultant agreements ensuring margin targets are met.
  • Support project managers in developing plans to improve project profitability/rates where needed.
  • Manage project manager assignments, ensuring optimal utilization of the project management team.
  • Support project managers in building trust and effective communication with clients.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure a positive client experience throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in project management, with a minimum of 5 years leading and managing a project management team.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex web projects on time, within budget, and within scope.
  • In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience in project budgeting, resource allocation, risk management, and issue resolution.
  • Strong understanding of project management tools and software (experience with Basecamp, Jira, Kantata a plus).
  • Proven ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a high-performing project management team.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and coaching skills.
  • Ability to delegate effectively and empower team members.
  • Experience in conducting performance reviews and career development planning.
  • Strong understanding of financial metrics relevant to project management (e.g., revenue, profitability, hourly rates, etc.).
  • Experience in managing project budgets and identifying opportunities to improve project profitability.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree.
