About the position

As the Director of Project Management at Mikron Automation, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the efficient execution of complex automation projects through a dedicated team of Project Managers (PRMAs). This position requires a strategic mindset, as you will be responsible for managing risks, monitoring project financials, and ensuring that the organization is kept informed of any potential challenges that may arise during project execution. Your leadership will be crucial in developing and guiding a high-performing team of Project Managers through effective coaching, mentoring, and training, all while ensuring that commitments to customers are met and that internal processes and procedures are adhered to for consistency and efficiency. In this role, you will serve as a key liaison between the PRMAs and customer representatives, particularly during escalations, to resolve conflicts and ensure customer satisfaction. You will be tasked with making strategic decisions that guide project managers, reviewing project Change Orders for approval, and regularly meeting with Project Managers to assess project status and readiness. Your ability to identify risks, develop mitigation plans, and escalate issues to management will be essential in maintaining project momentum and quality. Additionally, you will be responsible for communicating project status and understanding the resources required for successful project execution. This role demands strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships. You will also need to demonstrate effective communication and influence at various levels within and outside the company, ensuring that project management processes are followed and continuously improved.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the execution of complex automation projects through a team of Project Managers (PRMAs).
  • Manage a diverse team of PRMAs, developing and executing performance plans, coaching, and ensuring consistency.
  • Make strategic decisions and guide project managers in their roles.
  • Review project Change Orders for approval and assess their impact.
  • Regularly meet with Project Managers to review project status and ensure readiness and quality.
  • Identify risks, develop mitigation plans, and escalate issues to management as necessary.
  • Support Project Managers during meetings and throughout project phases.
  • Act as a point of escalation for internal and customer concerns.
  • Ensure adherence to project management processes and develop process improvements.
  • Communicate with the Director of Sales regarding the project pipeline and staffing needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Project Manager in automation.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Director of Project Management.
  • Experience in industrial automation and knowledge of the medical/pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office/365.
  • Supervisory or managerial experience is required.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. and possess a valid state driver's license and passport eligibility.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the year.
  • Availability to work necessary hours to meet deadlines.
