About the position

The Director of Project Management will lead a team responsible for managing complex HVAC projects from inception to completion. This role combines project management expertise with engineering knowledge to ensure projects are executed efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. The position is with a rapidly growing HVAC manufacturer and distributor in New York, NY.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of project managers, offering guidance, support, and constructive feedback to promote both project success and team growth.
  • Oversee project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure each project is delivered efficiently and meets client requirements.
  • Leverage engineering expertise to identify and address technical challenges in HVAC design, installation, and maintenance.
  • Partner with clients, vendors, and internal teams to align on project objectives, provide updates, and manage changes in scope or timing.
  • Design and implement project management practices and processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and profitability across projects.
  • Proactively identify potential risks early in the project lifecycle and establish mitigation strategies to support successful project outcomes.
  • Monitor and report on project KPIs to ensure alignment with quality, budget, and timeline goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical)
  • 8+ years of experience in project management in the HVAC, construction, or related industry.
  • 3+ years of experience in a management or team lead role.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, equipment, and engineering principles.
  • PMP certification (preferred)
  • Well versed in project management software (i.e. MS Project, Primavera)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
