About the position

The Director of Project Management is a key leadership role at Cambrex's Longmont site, responsible for managing the Project Management team and maintaining relationships with key clients. This position involves coaching and developing staff, executing complex projects, and communicating project statuses to stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early-stage drug development and GxP compliance, along with excellent leadership and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage project managers to integrate and align the execution of customer projects across service lines at the site.
  • Ensure that the PM team generates and reviews project plans, timelines, and deliverable status, modifying schedules as required and notifying stakeholders of changes.
  • Manage project scope and budget, raising change orders as necessary during project execution.
  • Develop standards, processes, key performance indicators, and tools for effective project scheduling and relationship management with clients.
  • Recruit, train, develop, coach, mentor, and retain Project Management staff, ensuring they are effective in their roles.
  • Participate in client visits, audits, and inquiries to fulfill requests and interests.
  • Act as a primary client escalation point to resolve project issues.
  • Forecast future capacity demand and revenue from the existing project portfolio, including new proposals and changes of scope.
  • Create strong and productive relationships with clients and support business development efforts.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in a life sciences field.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of relevant pharmaceutical development experience, including at least 4 years in management.
  • Strong technical project management skills.
  • Solid understanding of pharmaceutical product development, including regulatory frameworks and safety requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strategic thinking ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire teamwork among direct reports and matrixed colleagues.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • PMP certification.
  • Experience in CDMO and/or CRO environments.
