About the position

The Director of Project Management at 365 Retail Markets plays a crucial role in the Technology department, acting as a delivery thought leader with a focus on technology, strategy, and management. This senior leadership position is responsible for overseeing the Project Management Office (PMO) team, ensuring effective management of project requirements, resources, schedules, and financials in an Agile environment. The role emphasizes customer service, problem-solving, and the integration of people and processes to deliver projects successfully and on time.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of technology projects using the latest interactive software, cloud environments, machine learning, and AI.
  • Manage software releases across multiple platforms to ensure on-time delivery of roadmap initiatives.
  • Facilitate the on-time, on-budget delivery of 365's product roadmap.
  • Establish and maintain performance metrics to understand portfolio health and drive accountability, acting appropriately on the data.
  • Maintain and present performance dashboards to executive stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver meaningful status reports and metrics to various audiences, including the project team, sponsors, executives, and key stakeholders.
  • Develop a cohesive delivery strategy using Agile and traditional frameworks in a highly technical environment.
  • Establish PMO integration playbook for acquired companies.
  • Maintain accountability for the quality of project deliverables from conception to delivery.
  • Proactively identify issues, properly escalate, and provide visibility to the senior executive staff as appropriate.
  • Manage project management staff to ensure 365's Project Lifecycle guidelines are followed.
  • Perform ad hoc and scheduled performance reviews of PMO staff; provide feedback and facilitate corrective actions as needed.
  • Sponsor process improvement initiatives as it relates to improving project delivery.
  • Provide leadership for the project team through motivation, coaching, discipline, and holding each other accountable.
  • Develop and manage all aspects of projects from planning, vendor relationships, communications, scope, estimation, resources, budget, change, risks, and quality.
  • Monitor, track, and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies, and critical path deliverables.
  • Procure adequate resources to achieve project objectives in planned timeframes.
  • Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization.
  • Participate and/or drive feasibility studies, vendor selections, and proposals for evaluation by appropriate key stakeholders.
  • Continue professional development to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods, and best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience.
  • Current PMP certification.
  • PMI-ACP, CSM, CSP, ITIL, KMP, SAFe or related certifications strongly preferred.
  • 12 years of project management experience, working with highly technical software delivery projects.
  • 10 years of experience with full product lifecycle projects, and a comprehensive understanding of the SDLC.
  • 8 years of management experience.
  • 5 years release management experience.
  • Advanced experience in compiling portfolio performance metrics including capacity management, cycle time, lead time, delivery performance, quality, risk, ETC.
  • Excellent experience in Agile and Waterfall methodologies, SAFe, Scrum and Kanban frameworks.
  • Experience with tools like Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, SharePoint, Visio, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project for the Web.
  • Experience managing highly complex technical projects; PCI and data security projects is a plus.
  • POS experience in a hospitality or retail environment is a plus.
  • Familiarity with computer hardware and peripherals, routers, switches, firewalls, networks and related infrastructure.
  • Understand interdependencies between technology, operations, and business needs.
  • Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands.
  • Experience leading, motivating, and managing various project and program team sizes, including internal and external resources, while holding the team accountable for performance.
  • Strong experience presenting to executive sponsors and demonstrated communication skills; both written and oral with technical and non-technical staff, all levels of management.
  • Experience working both independently and, in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products.
  • Must be able to learn, understand and apply new technologies.
  • Proven ability to work in an ambiguous environment and collaborate across multiple areas in order to achieve a common business objective.
  • Support diverse and inclusive work environment.
