About the position

The Director of Recreation is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the pool and beach areas, ensuring maintenance, cleanliness, and operational efficiency of cabana units. This role involves modeling service behavior, enhancing guest and employee satisfaction, and achieving financial performance goals. The director will work closely with direct reports to implement departmental strategies and uphold brand service standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and manages employees in the recreation department.
• Manages day-to-day operations and understands employee roles to perform duties in their absence.
• Monitors quality and standards to meet customer expectations daily.
• Utilizes interpersonal skills to lead and influence team members.
• Schedules events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.
• Provides personal assistance and emotional support to coworkers and guests.
• Develops specific goals and plans to prioritize and organize work.
• Manages outside vendors for water sports and scuba activities.
• Orders and manages necessary supplies for the department.
• Develops and manages children's programs and group activities.
• Ensures overall maintenance and cleanliness of pool and beach areas.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED with 2 years of experience in recreation/health club operations or related area.
• 2-year degree from an accredited university in Health Education, Physical Education, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major with no work experience required.
