About the position

The Director of Rehabilitation Services at Northwestern Medicine is responsible for providing administrative leadership for both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services. This role emphasizes a patient-first approach, ensuring high-quality care and patient satisfaction while adhering to the organization's mission, vision, and values. The Director collaborates with medical leadership to implement quality strategies and maintain operational responsibility for assigned business units, fostering a professional work environment and enhancing service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain responsibility, authority, and accountability for patient care administration and professional practice within Rehabilitation Services.
  • Oversee the development and operations of inpatient and outpatient physical, occupational, and speech therapy services.
  • Model key behaviors that support the vision of leading the industry in patient-centered, innovative, and evidence-based rehabilitation services.
  • Serve as a role model for staff in professional, clinical, communication, education, and leadership activities.
  • Develop the Rehabilitation Services workforce to meet organizational goals, including professional development and mentorship programs.
  • Practice fiscal accountability by involving managers in budget preparation and identifying efficiency and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Stay informed of current and emerging issues and trends in healthcare and communicate these to staff.
  • Identify opportunities for new business growth and expansion of current services.
  • Manage appropriate skill levels for staff to provide care across a wide range of ages and rehabilitative needs.
  • Support additional projects and perform administrative tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of healthcare experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of healthcare management experience.
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree with current licensure in physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, or associated ancillary healthcare services, or a business-related master's degree.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's or Doctorate in Physical, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Therapy.
  • MBA or other business-related master's degree.
