About the position

The Director of Retail Operations is a pivotal role within Five Star Food Service, responsible for overseeing the financial and operational aspects of retail micro market and vending operations within their assigned division. This position aims for continuous improvement in service delivery, ensuring that the highest standards of customer service are met and that all retail needs of the company's customers are fulfilled. The Director will work closely with both corporate and division-level management to uphold best-in-class service standards, compliance with execution, and profitability that aligns with company guidelines and budgets. In this role, the Director will directly supervise all retail micro market and vending operations, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws. Key responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training retail market and vending employees, as well as planning, assigning, and directing their work. The Director will also be responsible for appraising employee performance, rewarding and disciplining staff, and addressing complaints and resolving problems as they arise. The Director will actively engage with accounts and clients to maintain strong relationships, responding to comments, suggestions, or concerns to ensure account retention. They will support sales activities, including client presentations, grand opening events, trade shows, and retail space design. Additionally, the Director will coordinate and execute retail market and vending installations, merchandising, and promotional activities in a timely and professional manner, while conducting inspections and inventory audits to ensure compliance with company standards. Daily and weekly reviews of retail market and vending reports will be essential to ensure client satisfaction, data integrity, and adherence to targeted spoilage rates and labor costs. The Director will maintain the retail operating system in accordance with program standards, utilizing reports to manage replenishment, merchandising, and inventory levels effectively. They will also assist the VP of Retail Operations with warehouse operations, ensuring compliance with company guidelines and maintaining appropriate inventory levels. Overall, the Director of Retail Operations will play a crucial role in maximizing retail sales while ensuring customer satisfaction, improving productivity, and managing employee scheduling to meet service obligations.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise all retail micro market and vending operations.
  • Work collaboratively with corporate and division level management to ensure best in class service standards, execution compliance, and profitability.
  • Interview, hire, and train retail market and vending employees.
  • Plan, assign, and direct work for retail employees.
  • Appraise performance and address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Visit accounts and clients to maintain good relations and react to comments, suggestions, or concerns.
  • Support sales activities including client presentations, grand opening events, trade shows, and retail space design.
  • Coordinate and execute retail market and vending installations, merchandising, and promotional activities.
  • Perform retail location inspections and inventory audits to ensure company standards are met.
  • Review retail market and vending reports daily and weekly to ensure client satisfaction and data integrity.
  • Maintain the retail operating system in accordance with program standards.
  • Assist the VP of Retail Operations with efficient warehouse operations and inventory management.
  • Review service frequencies with subordinates to maximize retail sales without jeopardizing customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to lift 35lbs+ on a repetitive basis and have the ability to reach, bend, and stoop frequently.
  • Consent to a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and MVR review.
  • Ability to follow workplace safety policies and guidelines.
