About the position

The Director of Safety, Security and Operations at Bentley School is responsible for the strategic and tactical management of safety, security, risk, traffic management, food services, and emergency preparedness across both campuses. This role aims to provide a safe and secure environment for students and staff by developing and implementing safety plans and collaborating with various stakeholders, including law enforcement and emergency responders. The Director will lead initiatives to enhance safety protocols and ensure compliance with regulations, while also overseeing the operational aspects of safety services.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, control and direct school safety services and emergency preparedness activities according to school standards and federal and state regulations.
  • Advise administrators and staff on security and protective services; organize and conduct related training and workshops.
  • Develop and oversee operational guidelines for School Safety and Emergency Preparedness; coordinate implementation of safety goals and objectives.
  • Recommend and develop school safety plans, security and emergency preparedness programs, and related policies.
  • Provide functional supervision of contracted campus security and oversee security operations on a 24/7 basis.
  • Plan, coordinate, and evaluate emergency drills and tests to assess the effectiveness of emergency plans.
  • Monitor community health trends and ensure PPE and protocols are current.
  • Schedule and facilitate Safety committees and provide topics for consideration in safety meetings.
  • Plan and implement disaster response and crisis management activities for the school.
  • Survey school sites to assess conditions and recommend improvements in safety and security.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and related regulations; conduct safety inspections and training.
  • Oversee the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) and investigate work-related incidents.
  • Develop and maintain an Emergency Response Plan for violence against students and staff.
  • Organize training programs to enhance employee awareness of workplace hazards.
  • Maintain an inventory of all School vehicles and ensure they are insured.
  • Manage and engage the Food Service for the school.
  • Conduct risk management audits and coordinate with law enforcement as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 5 years of related experience in safety and security
  • Operational knowledge of Google Suite, MS Word, MS Excel
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • Valid CA Driver's License
  • Extensive and diversified background in safety and security
  • Advanced training or certification in safety and security preferred
  • Experience in a K-12 school setting preferred
