About the position

Hilton San Jose is seeking a passionate Director of Sales & Marketing to lead the hotel's exciting new chapter. This role is pivotal for overseeing the commercial strategies of the hotel, with the primary goal of enhancing asset performance by aligning strategy with business processes. The Director will be part of Hilton's Commercial Services organization, which encompasses sales, revenue, marketing, catering, events management, call centers, and analytics functions. These elements are crucial to Hilton's commercial engine, driving profitable growth. In this position, the Director will design, develop, and implement innovative business strategies that are impactful for the Americas, leading the Hotel Sales and Marketing process. Key deliverables include transitioning business analytics and processes to a predictive and prescriptive approach to enhance performance. Responsibilities will involve developing and communicating commercial strategies and standards, analyzing revenue performance against established goals, and facilitating the delivery of the Americas Commercial Operating Model. Strong leadership, communication, and networking skills are essential for success in this role. The Director will produce the hotel's Annual Multi-Year Commercial Strategy Plan in collaboration with on-property leaders and regional support. They will be directly accountable for setting the strategy and achieving revenue targets across various segments, including group rooms, banquets, catering, business transient, and leisure transient. The role also involves supporting hotel B2B marketing, digital marketing, social media, public relations, and communications activities, ensuring that online hotel content is accurate and effective. Leadership responsibilities include leading the Sales & Marketing Optimization Process, converting outcomes into actionable business strategies, and contributing to annual Commercial Cadence communications. The Director will also be responsible for recruiting and retaining sales and marketing team members, conducting performance reviews, and fostering a culture aligned with Hilton's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals. Additionally, the Director will own performance and commercial activity reporting, present commercial strategies to key business partners, and build strong relationships with community influencers and travel partners.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy business strategies for the Americas.
  • Lead the Hotel Sales and Marketing process.
  • Move business analytics to a predictive and prescriptive approach.
  • Develop and communicate commercial strategies and standards.
  • Facilitate the delivery of the Americas Commercial Operating Model.
  • Produce the hotel's Annual Multi-Year Commercial Strategy Plan.
  • Set strategy and delivery of hotel revenues across various segments.
  • Support hotel B2B marketing, digital marketing, and public relations activities.
  • Guide e-Commerce teams for accurate online hotel content.
  • Establish optimal business mix and review revenue forecasts.
  • Work with Executive Committee members to maximize profits.
  • Develop and execute departmental expense budget and forecasts.
  • Maintain knowledge of competitor and market activity.
  • Execute the Sales and Catering Sales annual SIP (Sales Incentive Program).
  • Lead Sales & Marketing Optimization Process for the hotel.
  • Contribute to annual Commercial Cadence communication.
  • Recruit and retain sales and marketing roles.
  • Conduct performance reviews for direct reports.
  • Facilitate a culture aligned with Hilton's DEI and ESG goals.
  • Own performance and commercial activity reporting for hotels.
  • Present commercial strategies to key business partners.
  • Build relationships with CVB, community influencers, and travel partners.

Requirements

  • Hotel Sales, Catering or Marketing Experience
  • Leadership management Experience
  • Ability to travel
  • Experience in hotel management or related industry
  • Highly professional presentations and communication skills
  • Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office
  • Ability to perform critical analysis
