About the position

The Director of Sales and Marketing is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all sales and strategy functions for the Crowne Plaza Cabana Hotel. This position involves maximizing revenue through various sales efforts, managing the sales team, and collaborating with the executive leadership team to drive the hotel's strategic vision and growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hospitality and a passion for revenue generation, fostering a culture of teamwork and strategic thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel.
  • Meet or exceed weekly minimum solicitation goals.
  • Create a culture of 'Prime Selling Time' for all staff by example.
  • Focus on all sales efforts including group sales, banquet/catering sales, and transient sales.
  • Work from a solicitation plan weekly and train the sales team to do the same.
  • Recruit, direct, manage, train, and counsel sales staff.
  • Direct the solicitation efforts of the sales and catering team using effective communication.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate administrative standards for sales operations.
  • Develop strategies with the sales team on key accounts and participate in the sales process.
  • Maintain a primary and active relationship with the CVB on behalf of the hotel.
  • Be a member of at least one local civic or professional organization.
  • Work with Front Office to understand PMS System and marketing trends.
  • Conduct/attend various business and strategy meetings as required.
  • Solve operational problems proactively and maintain knowledge of the Sales & Marketing budget.
  • Approve all expenditures and control costs for printing and other materials.
  • Ensure effective detailing of groups and use all resources creatively.
  • Work with other Executive Committee Members to develop accountability in operations.
  • Be the expert for the property regarding IHG sales and marketing initiatives.
  • Approve all contracts ensuring proper terms and conditions are met.
  • Work with DEFINE marketing for all initiatives and social media strategies.
  • Ensure proper usage and update of Delphi FDC for the property.
  • Track response time and conversion of inquiries for the team.
  • Prepare and implement strategic sales plans and reports.
  • Administer staffing, training, and performance reviews for the sales and catering teams.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of Sales and Marketing experience.
  • At least 2 years in a director role overseeing a sales and marketing management team.
  • Experience building a sales organization structure and practices from the ground up.
  • Proven leadership and coaching skills with a track record of developing motivated sales and marketing professionals.
  • Exceptional skills in Excel.
  • Knowledge of Delphi, Opera, iHotelier, TravelClick, and brand systems preferred.
  • Strong analytic, organization, and problem-solving skills for strategic data interpretation.
  • Experience in the hospitality industry (hotel or restaurant) is a must.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience in developing a highly motivated and cross-trained group of sales and marketing professionals.
  • Ability to conduct effective group meetings and presentations.
