About the position

The Sales and Marketing Director at Gamble Sands is a pivotal role within the club's management team, tasked with maximizing catering and event revenues. This position involves creating and implementing comprehensive promotion and sales plans for the club's facilities, which cater to a variety of events including weddings, banquets, business meetings, social gatherings, golf outings, and member-related activities. The Director will work closely with the General Manager to ensure that the club's offerings are effectively marketed and that sales goals are met. In this role, the Director will be responsible for achieving sales and profit goals for the catering and events operation. This includes developing catering sales budgets and marketing plans, as well as implementing programs and activities designed to increase and retain events at the club. The Director will engage in various sales strategies such as telephone sales campaigns, direct marketing, networking events, and open houses to attract new clients and maintain relationships with existing ones. Utilizing CRM and sales automation systems, particularly salesforce.com, is essential for maintaining an organized prospect database and tracking all communications and sales activities. The Director will also conduct tours and meetings for prospective events, oversee contract development, and assist clients in planning their special events, ensuring that all details are meticulously managed for a seamless execution. Regular evaluations of service quality and participation in community activities to enhance the club's presence are also key components of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve sales/profit goals of the Club's catering/events operation.
  • Help develop catering sales budgets and marketing plans.
  • Develop and implement programs and activities that increase and retain events in the Club.
  • Utilize salesforce.com daily to build and maintain an events prospect database.
  • Respond to prospect inquiries, conduct tours and meetings for prospective events, and sell events.
  • Oversee the development/preparation of contracts for all events.
  • Assist prospects in planning special events including menus, entertainment, and decorations.
  • Recommend refinements for catered events including floral arrangements and table settings.
  • Work with the Club's General Manager to determine selling prices and menus for catered events.
  • Schedule all banquet event functions, prepare event proposals, and collect signed contracts and deposits.
  • Transmit necessary information about all events to the appropriate support staff.
  • Ensure smooth execution of events by inspecting finished arrangements and collaborating with department heads.
  • Supervise details of catered events including specifications and quantities of goods to order.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor standards of service for catering activities.
  • Regularly evaluate services and determine means to upgrade quality of catered events.
  • Attend important events to foster relationships for generating referrals and business opportunities.
  • Participate in outside activities to enhance the property's presence in the local community.
  • Work with the Club's GM and Troon regional team to create sales materials and collaterals.
  • Participate in Troon monthly sales calls and/or meetings and the annual Troon sales meeting.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Club's General Manager.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of rigorous sales experience in catering sales, preferably in a club setting.
  • Proven track record of selling weddings and banquets.
  • Superior sales skills in prospecting, communication, and closing.
  • Professional appearance with a pleasant and mature demeanor.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Highly organized, efficient, and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills.
  • Comfortable using CRM/sales automation systems (i.e., salesforce.com).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of the Jacksonville/St. Augustine markets is preferred.
  • A four-year college degree is preferred, but not required.
