About the position

The Director of US Sales Finance for the Endoscopy division at Medtronic is a pivotal role that combines financial leadership with strategic business partnership. This position is based in Santa Clara, California, and requires a hybrid work model, with three days a week onsite. The Director will report directly to the Endoscopy CFO and will lead a team of four finance professionals, supporting a significant revenue stream of over $0.5 billion and an operating profit exceeding $0.2 billion. This role is designed for a leader who can provide insightful analytics and business acumen to drive revenue growth, profitability, and market development in the US market. In this role, the Director will act as a trusted advisor to the US Sales Vice President, focusing on achieving key financial objectives such as targeted revenue, operating profit, and free cash flow while effectively managing associated risks and opportunities. The Director will collaborate closely with various teams, including OU Finance, Marketing, and Commercial teams, to establish revenue and margin expectations during major forecast cycles. This includes the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), quarterly forecasts, and strategic planning processes. The Director will also play a crucial role in the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) processes, ensuring that demand signals and supply projections are accurately represented. This involves monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) and trends related to revenue and volume, advising the Commercial VP on cost structure optimization, and actively participating in new product launches and strategic pricing initiatives. The position requires strong leadership skills to mentor and develop the finance team while fostering collaboration across various departments to maximize revenue growth and operational efficiency. Overall, this role is multi-dimensional and requires a leader who can navigate complex financial landscapes, influence senior stakeholders, and drive execution in a fast-paced, high-technology environment, particularly within the medical device industry.

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial leadership to the US Sales Vice President to grow market share and achieve financial objectives.
  • Partner with OU Finance, Marketing, and Commercial teams to establish revenue and profit expectations for major forecast cycles.
  • Drive partnership as the US Sales Finance Leader through the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) processes.
  • Monitor key KPIs and trends related to revenue and volume, keeping leadership informed of deviations and updates.
  • Advise on cost structure optimization and resource utilization to meet growth and efficiency goals.
  • Collaborate with marketing and commercial teams on new product launches and strategic pricing initiatives.
  • Engage with Total Rewards on compensation strategies and design initiatives.
  • Optimize resource allocation in collaboration with sales operations and commercial leaders.
  • Support pricing strategies and growth initiatives for strategic accounts and contract administration.
  • Lead the creation and refinement of tools and analytics to improve performance metrics.
  • Mentor and provide professional development guidance to a team of four sales finance professionals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with 10+ years of work experience in Finance and/or Contracting (or Advanced Degree with 8+ years) plus 7+ years of managerial experience.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to influence key stakeholders at various management levels.
  • Proven ability to influence Senior Sales Leaders and drive execution.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to present financial analysis clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to develop forward-looking financial models and scenarios for senior leaders.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle ambiguity in an unstructured environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing financial analysts and remote supervision.
  • Experience in a dynamic sales organization or commercial operations.
