About the position

The Director of Sales - Franchised position is a pivotal role within the hotel, which is independently owned and operated by HHM Hotels. This position is responsible for overseeing the sales team and ensuring that all associates perform in accordance with established brand or hotel standards while embodying the core values of HHM. The Director will utilize both internal and external resources to develop strategic plans that encompass all business segments, ensuring alignment with corporate and hotel goals. A key aspect of this role is to understand the sales and business processes, which will contribute to enhancing customer value and satisfaction. In this role, the Director of Sales will identify customer business requirements and craft tailored offers that lead to increased revenue share for the hotel. Monitoring the achievement of sales objectives is crucial, and the Director will take necessary actions to address any shortfalls in relation to the annual marketing plan. Achieving the annual hotel revenue goals, as outlined in the budget, is a primary responsibility. The Director will also maintain relationships with key accounts to boost customer satisfaction and account revenue, employing professional sales techniques to negotiate favorable terms that meet both internal and external customer requirements. The Director will prepare and maintain a current annual marketing plan, detailing measurable initiatives aimed at sustaining and growing each business segment. Leadership responsibilities include modeling effective selling techniques, developing team members, and committing to personal and industry development. The role requires the ability to create effective presentations that clearly communicate ideas, opinions, recommendations, and conclusions. Additionally, the Director will travel locally to conduct outside calls, promote the hotel, and analyze competition, all while adhering to sustainability guidelines related to HHM's EarthView program. Other duties may be assigned by management as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Interview, select, train, schedule, coach, and support associates to ensure performance aligns with established standards.
  • Develop strategic plans using internal and external resources to incorporate all business segments.
  • Understand sales and business processes to support corporate and hotel goals and enhance customer value.
  • Identify customer business requirements and create offers to increase hotel revenue share.
  • Monitor sales team objectives and take corrective actions to address shortfalls in the annual marketing plan.
  • Achieve annual hotel revenue goals as established in the budget.
  • Maintain relationships with key accounts to enhance customer satisfaction and revenue.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions that satisfy customer requirements using professional sales techniques.
  • Articulate and leverage hotel benefits to close sales opportunities.
  • Prepare and maintain an annual marketing plan with measurable initiatives for business growth.
  • Model proper selling techniques and develop team members effectively.
  • Create effective presentations to communicate ideas and recommendations clearly.
  • Travel locally for outside calls, hotel promotion, and competition review.
  • Follow sustainability guidelines related to HHM's EarthView program.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Requirements

  • Four-year college degree required; advanced degree coursework in business administration, marketing, or communications is a plus.
  • Previous sales experience in a comparable hotel size and scope is required; operations experience preferred.
  • Public relations and community marketing experience required.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Delphi, and access database tools.
