About the position

The Director of Sales - Government Markets is responsible for leading tactical planning, business negotiations, and the deployment of strategies to establish long-term partnerships that enhance revenue streams within various sub-segments of government markets for the M&R hotel portfolio. This role involves collaboration with senior management and hotel sales leaders to achieve financial objectives and maximize revenue through effective sales strategies and customer relationship management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an aggressive solicitation program to increase business.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Sales & Marketing and Senior Management Team to create the segment vision and business acquisition plan.
  • Work closely with hotel sales leaders and general managers to identify opportunities and mitigate obstacles to meet financial objectives.
  • Achieve quarterly and annual revenue goals across the M&R hotel portfolio.
  • Conduct monthly performance analyses to assess progress towards goals.
  • Capture competitor accounts through networking and research to generate new business.
  • Self-manage segment tasks on a daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal basis.
  • Participate in sales calls with hotel sales leaders and general managers to acquire new business.
  • Prepare error-free proposals, contracts, and letters of agreement for business partnerships.
  • Generate monthly performance reports comparing results to budget and KPOs.
  • Analyze market data and government regulations to stay informed on market changes.
  • Review hotel scorecards to identify areas for improvement in guest satisfaction and service quality.
  • Meet with guests to obtain feedback on service quality and overall satisfaction.
  • Observe employee service behaviors and provide feedback for improvement.
  • Support the company's customer service standards and drive customer satisfaction.
  • Understand customer needs and recommend appropriate services to exceed expectations.
  • Develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Collaborate with on and off-property sales channels to ensure complementary sales efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations in collaboration with HR and other departments.
  • Attend customer events, trade shows, and sales missions to build relationships with GSO managers and customers.

Requirements

  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major.
  • 5 years of sales leadership experience in sales and marketing or a related professional area.
