About the position

La Posada Hotel is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Sales and Marketing to join our team. The Director of Sales & Marketing is primarily responsible for leading and driving top line revenue strategy for segments including group, business transient/Negotiated, and Banquet and Catering. This role requires staying ahead of market trends, monitoring market share movement, and conducting ongoing competitive hotel analysis. The individual will direct the property Sales teams (Rooms & Catering) to ensure that budgeted revenues are met or exceeded against established goals and budgets. Additionally, the Director will develop and implement a marketing communications plan with our third-party organization designed to achieve the desired positioning for the hotel, while also managing the sales and marketing budget that supports revenue attainment. The responsibilities include leading and driving top line revenue for all revenue streams in the hotel, assessing and reacting to market trends, and acting as the hotel's voice of the customer. The Director will need to be fluent in reading and using Smith Travel Research data, financial P&L, and traditional hotel reporting. They will conduct comprehensive competitive set reviews, SWOT analysis, and monitor new supply. The role also involves developing and implementing sales and marketing strategies to increase revenue and occupancy rates, managing and leading the sales and marketing team, and developing and maintaining relationships with key clients and partners. Furthermore, the Director will conduct market research and analysis to identify trends and opportunities, develop and manage the sales and marketing budget, and collaborate with other departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading & driving top line revenue for all revenue streams in the hotel.
  • Assesses & reacts to market trends, market share & the competitive hotel environment.
  • Act as the hotel's voice of the customer and communicate key issues/concerns at all levels of the organization.
  • Fluent in reading/assimilating/using Smith Travel Research data, financial P&L, mix of sales, forecasting, group pace/position & traditional hotel reporting.
  • Ability to understand and communicate market trends, demand generators, supply/demand and economic factors affecting hotel performance.
  • Conduct comprehensive competitive set reviews, SWOT analysis & monitor new supply.
  • Develop/implement key segment strategy & managing key accounts (both existing & target).
  • Design effective sales deployment schemes & market assignments.
  • Develop sales goals designed to achieve budget & market share targets.
  • Manage group pace measurement and set sales production goals.
  • Manage sales activity & travel schedule.
  • Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies to increase revenue and occupancy rates.
  • Manage and lead the sales and marketing team.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key clients and partners.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Develop and manage the sales and marketing budget.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.
  • Develop and implement pricing strategies to maximize revenue.
  • Monitor and analyze sales and marketing performance metrics.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a hotel sales leader.
  • Experience dealing with/communicating with ownership groups and asset management.
  • Proficient in managing/using sales automation (DELPHI) & PMS systems.
  • Experience working collaboratively with revenue management.
  • Well-rounded knowledge of all market segments and channel sources, as well as ability to develop a strategic plan for each.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to direct, lead, train, motivate & drive a direct sales team; and develop a cooperative & competitive team spirit & winning attitude.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
