The Director of Sales & Marketing is responsible for soliciting group business for the hotel, aiming to maximize profits through innovative selling techniques and strategic selection processes. This role requires a cohesive collaboration with the Sales Department to effectively book group business by responding promptly to leads from various online platforms, engaging in cold calling, and visiting local businesses in the downtown metropolitan area. The Director will manage workflow through the Sales Pro system, ensuring that data is accurately filed according to company and brand standards. Participation in promotional events, trade shows, and community activities is also a key responsibility, as is maintaining a high level of attention to detail and efficiency in all job functions. The Director will assist in setting sales strategies to achieve overall property goals related to both rate and occupancy. A thorough understanding of the hotel's operations, including room types, meeting capacities, and services, is essential. The role involves reviewing monthly STAR reports and creating action plans as necessary, as well as communicating with Revenue Management and the General Manager to ensure appropriate pricing and adjust selling strategies as needed. The ideal candidate will be innovative, personable, and comfortable interacting with clients and stakeholders, with a strong ability to exceed revenue goals by offering exciting alternatives to the current market. Regular attendance and adherence to personal grooming standards are expected, along with the performance of any other duties as requested by a supervisor.
