About the position

As the Director of Sales & Marketing at Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center, you will play a crucial role in driving the hotel's sales and marketing initiatives. This position requires a dynamic and experienced leader who can effectively implement comprehensive sales strategies to secure new business travel accounts while maintaining existing relationships. You will oversee the sales activities of the hotel, ensuring that the sales team is well-trained and motivated to meet financial goals. Your leadership will be essential in maximizing the hotel's profitability while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key clients to generate group and convention business, which includes room sales, food and beverage sales, and catering services. You will coordinate the scheduling of conventions and group activities, working closely with other hotel departments to ensure seamless service delivery. Additionally, you will execute tactical sales and marketing plans that align with the overall system-wide strategies, ensuring that the hotel remains competitive in the market. Your responsibilities will also include recruiting, hiring, and training sales personnel, providing them with career development opportunities, and conducting performance evaluations. You will manage the departmental budget, monitor sales activities, and ensure that actual sales meet or exceed the established revenue plan. Maintaining a professional image and fostering a positive team environment will be key aspects of your role, as you lead the sales efforts of the Hyatt Denver Tech Center.

Responsibilities

  • Implement total sales and marketing efforts of the hotel.
  • Secure new Business Travel accounts and maintain existing accounts.
  • Supervise sales activities and training within the hotel sales team.
  • Execute sales and marketing strategies to maximize hotel profitability.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key clients for group and convention business.
  • Direct scheduling of conventions and group activities at the hotel.
  • Coordinate with other hotel departments to facilitate services for clients.
  • Attend out-of-town conventions to generate business.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and provide career development for sales personnel.
  • Manage departmental budget and monitor sales performance.
  • Provide a professional image at all times.

Requirements

  • 5 or more years of Hotel Sales Management and Staff Leadership experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to travel on sales trips out of town for multiple nights.
  • Computer literate in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Envision preferred.
  • Aggressive negotiating skills and creative selling abilities.
  • Ability to conduct research on the Internet.
  • Effective sales skills to up-sell products and services.
  • Knowledge of menu planning and banquet service operations.
  • Ability to manage guest room and meeting space inventories.
  • Broad understanding of facility management operations.
  • Strong customer development and relationship management skills.
  • Knowledge of overall hotel operations as they affect the department.
  • Knowledge of event technology products and services.
  • Knowledge of contract management and legalities.
  • Financial management skills, including understanding P&L statements.
