About the position

The Director of Sales Planning at S&P Global will be a key player in shaping the sales strategies and driving the performance of our global sales team. This role requires a deep understanding of industry trends and competitor strategies to maintain a competitive edge in the market. The individual will be responsible for developing sales plans that align with the company's financial data, analytics, and workflow solutions, ensuring that sales efforts are efficient, effective, and scalable across different markets. As part of the Customer Enablement and Growth team, the Director will collaborate with stakeholders across Market Intelligence to drive impactful change and foster a culture of curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement. In this position, the Director will lead the development and execution of the annual and ongoing sales planning process across all regions and segments. They will oversee the execution of the sales budget, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently to maximize ROI. The role also involves managing and refining sales forecasting models, utilizing financial data and analytics to predict sales trends and adjust strategies accordingly. The Director will work closely with key stakeholders and cross-functional leaders to ensure that sales plans are integrated with global business objectives, providing leadership and direction to the sales planning and enablement team while fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement. The Director will utilize workflow management tools and technology to streamline sales planning processes, enhancing team productivity. Regular reports will be prepared and presented to senior management on sales planning activities and progress toward goals, making this role pivotal in driving the commercial growth of the division.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Expertise in financial data analysis and sales forecasting.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales planning or sales operations, preferably in the financial data or analytics industry.
  • Proven track record of developing successful sales strategies, annual sales plans, and execution initiatives to meet targets.
  • Proficiency with Varicent or similar sales planning software, Salesforce or similar CRM systems, data analysis tools, and workflow management software.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable sales plans.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams in a global organization.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with a proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Innovative mindset with a focus on process improvement.
  • A history of successful collaboration with finance, product development, and marketing teams.
