About the position

The Director of Sales - West at Redbarn Pet Products is responsible for managing the sales activities of the organization, ensuring alignment with corporate goals through strategic planning and execution. This role involves overseeing sales forecasting, staffing, training, and performance evaluations, as well as directing channel development and sales distribution. The Director will also represent the company at trade association meetings and deliver sales presentations to key clients, while analyzing market trends and competition to drive sales growth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to accommodate corporate goals.
  • Direct sales forecasting activities and set performance goals accordingly.
  • Review market analyses to determine customer needs, price schedules, and discount rates.
  • Direct staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control sales programs.
  • Direct channel development activity and coordinate sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals.
  • Advise distributors and clients concerning sales and advertising techniques.
  • Assign sales territory to sales representatives.
  • Analyze sales statistics to formulate policy and assist dealers in promoting sales.
  • Direct product simplification and standardization to eliminate unprofitable items from the sales line.
  • Represent the company at trade association meetings to promote products.
  • Deliver sales presentations to key clients in coordination with sales representatives.
  • Meet with key clients, assisting sales representatives with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals.
  • Coordinate/liaison between the sales department and other sales-related units.
  • Analyze and control expenditures of the division to conform to budgetary requirements.
  • Assist other departments within the organization to prepare manuals and technical publications.
  • Prepare periodic sales reports showing sales volume, potential sales, and proposed client base expansion areas.
  • Direct product research and development.
  • Monitor and evaluate the activities and products of the competition.
  • Recommend or approve budget, expenditures, and appropriations for research and development work.

Requirements

  • Master's degree (M.A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience as a Sales Leader or Director.
  • Proven track record of increasing sales and revenue; field sales experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office and CRM software (CoopDigity Software and Pipeline).
  • Excellent communication skills and organizational ability.
