About the position

The Director of Sales at the Spartanburg Marriott, under Pyramid Global Hospitality, is a leadership role focused on driving sales and managing the sales team to achieve high levels of professionalism, guest service, and profitability. This position involves developing business leads, soliciting potential clients, servicing existing accounts, and meeting sales goals for rate, occupancy, and revenue. Responsibilities

  • Stay abreast of industry trends that the hotel can capitalize on.
  • Implement a successful solicitation strategy to targeted territories and accounts to meet and/or exceed revenue goals.
  • Direct and manage all group sales activities to maximize revenue potential.
  • Participate in daily business review meetings, sales strategy meetings, pre-convention meetings, training, and other sales-related meetings as required.
  • Recruit, direct, manage, train, and counsel sales staff.
  • Work with other departments within the hotel to provide quality service to customers.
  • Attend trade shows, community events, and industry meetings.
  • Maintain knowledge of market, competition, and customers.
  • Anticipate business needs and collect/prepare necessary information.
  • Prioritize tasks and follow-through; demonstrate excellent writing and proofreading skills.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of Director of Sales experience in a full-service environment at a Marriott hotel.
  • A 4-year college degree.
  • Experience within the South Carolina market is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and CI/TY.
  • Knowledge of computer accounting programs, math skills, and budgetary analysis capabilities.
  • Comprehensive expertise in sales techniques, revenue management, recruitment, supervision, training, and motivation of managerial staff.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt style to various audiences.
