About the position

BBSI is seeking a dynamic Director of Service Operations to lead our team in overseeing operations for a leading commercial backup power systems company. This role is pivotal in ensuring the production, quality, and maintenance of services in a multi-service platform environment, focusing on service repair, failure analyses, and addressing customer-related issues. The Director will provide both strategic and tactical direction for the administration, development, and delivery of all Service Operations programs and initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving results through effective leadership across various disciplines, ensuring that the organization meets its current and future objectives. In this role, the Director will oversee three departments with a staff of 28 office and field technicians across two locations in Anaheim and San Diego. The Director will lead the implementation and growth of a first-class service repair and maintenance operation, ensuring that the organizational structure, technical capabilities, resources, and processes are in place to meet operational goals. This position requires timely and accurate completion of all customer-requested service and maintenance repairs, and the Director will be an integral participant in the Services leadership team, managing interactions that may involve negotiating with vendors or influencing senior-level leaders on significant organizational matters. The Director will also focus on developing a motivated and cohesive management team to achieve business objectives through effective leadership and team-building initiatives. The role involves driving improvements in quality and efficiency, reducing waste, controlling labor overtime, and minimizing repair expenses. The Director will instill a lean methodology and a culture of continuous improvement within the team, while also attracting, retaining, and motivating a high-performance organization capable of driving excellence. Additionally, the Director will cultivate a healthy work environment aligned with the company's culture and values, and develop leadership personnel to enable future departmental and company growth.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee three departments with a staff of 28 office and field technicians across two offices in the Anaheim and San Diego areas.
  • Lead the implementation and accelerated growth of a first-class service repair and maintenance operation.
  • Ensure the organizational structure, technical capability, resources, and processes exist to achieve the current and future objectives of the operation.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate completion of all customer-requested service and maintenance repairs.
  • Participate as an integral member of the Services leadership team to ensure departmental management aligns with the strategic plan.
  • Develop a well-motivated and cohesive management team to accomplish business objectives through leadership and team-building initiatives.
  • Drive improvements in quality, efficiency, reduce waste, and control labor overtime and repair expenses.
  • Instill a lean methodology and a mentality of continuous improvement within management and staff.
  • Attract, retain, and motivate a high-performance organization capable of driving excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years' experience leading high-paced mechanical repair with a proven track record of increased responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical compliance requirements.
  • Strong business acumen in repairs, logistics, quality, planning, and regulatory matters.
  • Strong leadership skills for mentoring and training.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • A track record of milestone achievement, operational excellence, and strong cross-functional skills.
  • Prior success in building an organization, with a track record of recruiting, motivating, and developing top talent.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to change without losing focus on priorities.
  • Excellent knowledge of administrative operations and computer skills.
  • Strong initiative in decision-making and assumption of responsibilities.
