About the position

Expedia Media Solutions seeks a visionary and results-driven Director of Software Engineering, Advertising Technology. Responsibilities

  • Lead and Innovate: Drive the design and development of highly scalable, efficient ad retrieval and delivery systems that ensure optimal performance and ultra-low latency.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams to define KPIs, set ambitious targets, and inspire your team to deliver exceptional results.
  • Algorithm Optimization: Develop and refine algorithms for bidding strategies, pricing models, pacing, and real-time decision-making in ad auctions, directly impacting revenue and customer experience.
  • Trendspotting and Innovation: Stay on top of industry trends and new technologies in ad tech, integrating innovative approaches into our platform to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Talent Cultivation: Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence within your team, mentoring and developing engineering talent to their full potential.
  • Cross-functional Leadership: Work closely with product management, data science, and other teams to align on goals and deliver end-to-end solutions that delight our advertising partners.

Requirements

  • Extensive Engineering Experience: 10+ years in software engineering, specifically in advertising technology and auction systems.
  • Leadership Expertise: 5+ years of people management experience, including 3 years managing teams of managers.
  • AdTech Knowledge: Deep understanding of advertising technologies, such as real-time bidding, ad exchanges, and programmatic advertising.
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in building and delivering scalable, high-performance advertising systems.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong grasp of software development processes and software design principles.
  • Analytical and Data-driven: Experience with machine learning, analytics, and data-driven decision-making in advertising technology.
  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Education: Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
