About the position

As the Director of Software Development for the Oracle Database Appliance (ODA), you will oversee a global development team responsible for delivering integrated software solutions that optimize performance, availability, and management for Oracle databases and applications. This role involves collaborating with hardware divisions to ensure high-quality deployments and managing the complete lifecycle of software applications, operating systems, and databases. You will leverage your expertise in systems software architecture to enhance existing frameworks and innovate future improvements, all while leading a team in a collaborative and agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategy, leadership, and technical direction for a geographically distributed team (U.S, Mexico, and India) of senior and junior engineers.
• Manage and deliver timely, high-quality hardware and software releases.
• Develop a prioritized roadmap of products, features, and enhancements.
• Drive the delivery of roadmap commitments including large cross-functional projects on time with high quality.
• Work closely with a variety of stakeholders (Database development, Linux development, hardware division, product management, release management, customer support, functional and system testing) to ensure cross-organizational dependencies are managed effectively.
• Provide regular updates and feature presentation/demos to upper management.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of systems software architecture.
• Experience in managing software development tasks associated with designing, developing, deploying, and debugging software applications, operating systems, and databases.
• Ability to build enhancements within existing software architecture and envision future improvements.
• Hands-on experience in solving complex problems related to distributed systems.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Oracle Database and Linux Operating System innovations.
