About the position

The Director of Software Engineering 1 at Northrop Grumman is responsible for leading the Strategic Deterrent Systems Division Software team, overseeing all software development processes across various programs. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of software architecture, Agile methodologies, and program management, while also providing leadership and technical expertise. The position involves collaboration with multiple stakeholders, including executive management, to ensure alignment with program goals and effective execution of software strategies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the software requirements, architecture, and system design for the Strategic Deterrent Systems Division.
• Establish and maintain the Software Community of Practice (COP) to leverage industry best practices.
• Work in partnership with program management and leadership to define and execute the software statement of work.
• Oversee the end-to-end software development process, ensuring effective communication with all enterprise functions.
• Develop long-range plans and strategies for software development, aligning resources with program needs.
• Hire and develop a diverse team, fostering a culture of mentorship and leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a technical or business-related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of related experience in software engineering.
• 5 years of experience in a formal management position.
• 3+ years of experience leading technical and complex program efforts.
• Experience in developing and administering budgets and performance standards.
• U.S. Citizenship with an Active Secret Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with Northrop Grumman project execution processes.
• Knowledge of IFC and Agile software development in a classified environment.
